Introducing the upcoming NONA Regional Investment Forum in Ljetnikovac, Šabac Serbia

We are excited to make the first announcement about the upcoming Regional Investment Forum taking place on October 9th in Šabac, Serbia.

The Regional Investment Forum is organised as a key event within the pilot site Letnjikovac activities on the project NONA – New Governance for New Spaces. The forum will bring together local administration representatives, professional public figures, international partners, representatives from the civil sector, and potential investors. They will share experiences, discuss common priorities, and work together to shape sustainable urban investments. Through professional panels, thematic discussions, and interactive work with the audience, participants will commonly recognise developmental potentials, to determine priorities and define specific suggestions for improving public space through ecological and socially sustainable interventions.

Ljetnikovac is a public urban complex in Šabac, owned by the City, surrounded by the Letnjikovac Park forest, residential blocks, and community facilities. Most of its buildings are already renovated and used for education and childcare, while the surrounding park and one devastated building remain in need of revitalisation. The site is a valuable green and cultural asset, linking educational, social, and intergenerational activities. The project’s main goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and environmentally friendly public space by restoring the last remaining devastated building, improving paths, lighting, and greenery, and introducing new features such as a botanical garden and an open-air classroom. Ljetnikovac is intended for children, young people, seniors, and residents, bringing generations together through education, culture, and shared community life. By combining green investments with active participation, the site will become a vibrant hub of learning, interaction, and civic pride.

Forum format: The forum is structured in two thematic panels, accompanied by discussion and interactive work with the audience:

• Panel 1: Experiences in the implementation of green investment in sustainable urban and territorial development (planned speakers). Presentation of practical experiences and projects with a focus on green transition, including examples from urban green development, sustainable urban agriculture and gardening, education, and circular economy.

• Panel 2: Defining priorities and formulation of an investment package proposal for Letnjikovac (planned speakers and representatives of local shareholders). Presentation of potential models and recommendations for the future development of Letnjikovac, based on the expertise of the speakers, stakeholders, and priorities recognised through the participatory planning activities.

• Interactive session: Q&A with participants and working together on the map of Letnjikovac with discussion about priorities, ideas, and potentials for green investments.
