On Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, the first national meeting of the ROMAN LEGACY project in Croatia was held in the Velika vijećnica Osječko-baranjske županije in Osijek (Great Hall, Osijek-Baranja County). In addition to the project partner, the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb, the meeting brought together representatives of all three associated partners as well as other interested stakeholders.

Short presentations on ongoing research along the Danube Limes in Croatia were given by Igor Vukmanić, Tino Leleković, and Siniša Krznar. Vlatka Revald-Radolić spoke about the UNESCO nomination process for Croatian Limes sites, while Ivana Ožanić Roguljić introduced stakeholders to the Living Danube Limes project, highlighting its connection to ROMAN LEGACY and the opportunities arising from this synergy. Jacqueline Balen of the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb presented potential modes of stakeholder involvement in the project and emphasized the significance and potential benefits of the cultural route for them.

The following day, 4 December, we visited the archaeological site of Popovac, where excavations are currently being carried out under the direction of Igor Vukmanić. The site is being considered for inclusion in the cultural route.
