National Networking and Expert Meeting in Montenegro
On 27 November 2025, a National Workshop within the ROMAN LEGACY project was held at Kuslev’s House in Podgorica, jointly organized by the Municipality of Žabljak and the Museums and Galleries of Podgorica.
The event gathered representatives of key national institutions in the fields of cultural heritage, archaeology, tourism, and museum management.
The workshop presented the main goals of the ROMAN LEGACY project, including the development of a thematic region, creation of a Cultural Route along the Roman Danube Limes, strengthening sustainable tourism, and application of digital tools such as 3D and VR/AR modeling.
Experts from across Montenegro introduced the current state of Roman archaeological heritage – Duklja, Municipium S…, Risan, Sanderva, and other important sites – highlighting both the potential and challenges related to research, presentation, and management.
Interactive group sessions focused on identifying key sites for the Cultural Route, defining potential Roman Trails in northern, central, and coastal Montenegro, and selecting locations suitable for VR/AR 3D modeling. Proposed pilot sites include Municipium S…, Doclea, and Risan–Gradina.
The workshop concluded with a networking session and completion of questionnaires, confirming strong interest of national stakeholders in further cooperation within the thematic region.
