National Networking and Expert Meeting in Slovenia

On 27 November 2025, SRC Bistra Ptuj hosted a National Networking and Expert Meeting in Ptuj within the framework of the ROMAN LEGACY project. The meeting brought together representatives of museums, heritage institutions, municipalities, tourism organisations, associations, and academia to discuss the future development of the Cultural Route along the Roman Danube Limes.

Participants were introduced to the project’s objectives, including the creation of a transnational Cultural Route embedded in a wider Theme Region. The discussion focused on how Slovenian stakeholders can actively contribute to the joint interpretation and presentation framework, the future branding strategy, and the long-term certification process as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.

The meeting also highlighted synergies with the Interreg Danube Region project #RomansWineDanube and the existing Cultural Route Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route. Stakeholders expressed strong interest in strengthening cooperation and confirmed that Roman heritage represents a strategic opportunity for sustainable cultural tourism development in the region.
