Cultural Route "Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route" Receives Cultural Routes Best Practice Award

The "Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route," currently implementing the #RomansWineDanube project, has been honored with the prestigious "Cultural Routes Best Practice Award" in the "Research and Development" category. This recognition was announced during the 13th Annual Forum of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, held in Visegrád, Hungary, from September 25 to 27, 2024.

The award-winning activity was led by media k GmbH, project partner from Germany involved in the #RomansWineDanube project, supported by the Interreg Danube Regional Programme. The work of media k GmbH was instrumental in conducting a comprehensive analysis that highlighted and assessed the current conditions of the cultural route and its sub-destinations as reflected through cultural tourism.

Each year, the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe invites applications for exemplary initiatives that can serve as models across all cultural routes. The recognition of the cultural route and the #RomansWineDanube project as a leading example underscores its commitment to promoting cultural tourism and fostering connections among the regions it encompasses.

Dr. Karin Drda-Kühn, project manager at media k GmbH, commented, "This award reflects the hard work and dedication of all partners involved in the #RomansWineDanube project. The analysis carried out under this initiative emphasizes the rich heritage shared across the regions and reinforces the role of the Danube as a vital cultural connector. Our collaboration aims to strengthen and further develop a cultural route that celebrates both Roman heritage and regional wines, offering unique experiences that resonate with visitors."
