The SAFETY4TMF Project Showcased at the TAIEX Workshop in Vienna

On 10–11 March, our colleague Mr. Zoltán Török (Babeș-Bolyai University) participated as a speaker at the TAIEX EIR Multicountry Workshop on the Implementation of Hazardous Waste Classification in accordance with the Seveso III Directive, held in Vienna.

During the workshop, he presented the SAFETY4TMF project, highlighting how the project’s findings contribute to the broader discussion on the relationship between hazardous mining waste and the Seveso III Directive.

The two-day workshop aimed to improve and harmonise the way hazardous waste is classified and regulated under the Seveso III Directive across EU Member States. Discussions focused on clarifying the legal framework, addressing practical challenges in waste classification, examining differences in national implementation, and exploring common approaches to ensure consistent and effective application.

On the first day, several speakers presented key perspectives and case studies related to hazardous waste classification. The second day was dedicated to collaborative work, with participants engaging in four thematic groups to exchange expertise and develop ideas for future action, reflecting the core objective of TAIEX: moving forward together through shared EU expertise.

We would like to thank the European Commission and the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management for organising this important event, as well as all participants for the valuable ideas and expertise shared during the workshop.
