A green future on the roof - Company site visit and workshop at Terrán, Hungary
How does a century-old manufacturing company become a leader in sustainability?
Discover the inspiring transformation of Terrán!
The name Terrán Roof Tile Manufacturing Ltd. is well known to many. Domestic production in Hungary, exceptional quality, and a forward-thinking mindset have defined the company’s operations for decades. Today, Terrán stands as Hungary’s leading roof tile manufacturer, with nearly 23,000 families choosing its products to roof their homes each year. With a presence in five countries, the company offers solutions across ten markets, making it a truly international player.
But Terrán’s story isn’t only about growth and scale. In recent years, sustainability and innovation have become central to its mission. This commitment will come to life on 21 May 2025 in Pécs, during a special programme featuring a factory visit, lecture and roundtable discussion.
The event will spotlight the company’s pioneering development: the Generon solar roof tile. More than just a technological breakthrough, Generon represents a shift in mindset. By transforming the roof into an energy-generating surface, it redefines traditional functionality. Integrating solar panels directly into the roof tiles, this discreet and efficient solution contributes to household energy supply while remaining aesthetically pleasing and highly durable.
The programme will include a presentation by Attila Gódi, Managing Director of Terrán, who will share the story of the company’s green transformation. Participants will enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at how Generon tiles are produced, witnessing how over 110 years of manufacturing expertise is fused with cutting-edge technology.
Terrán’s environmental commitment extends beyond its products. Its factories are partially powered by solar energy, the Bóly site meets its heating needs through geothermal energy, and internal logistics are handled by electric vehicles. These are all steps in the company’s long-term strategy to achieve full carbon neutrality.
The afternoon will feature a roundtable discussion, bringing together experts to share insights on the industrial application of renewable energy—and explore what Hungarian SMEs can do to help shape a greener future.
