Fifth Stakeholder Meeting Supports SMEs in the Transition to Renewable Energy Sources

On 14 May 2026, key stakeholders from across Slovakia gathered in Bratislava for the 5th SMEnergy Stakeholder Meeting to discuss how best to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in their transition towards renewable energy sources.

The meeting marked an important milestone for the SMEnergy project, providing an opportunity to present and discuss Slovakia’s National Action Plan. Representatives from ministries, regional authorities, energy agencies, business support organisations, and project partners came together to review the proposed measures and explore practical approaches for supporting SMEs in adopting renewable energy solutions by 2027.

Discussions focused on how the National Action Plan can help businesses reduce their dependence on conventional energy sources, improve competitiveness, and contribute to national and European sustainability objectives. Participants also exchanged views on the effective implementation of the proposed measures and the role of stakeholder cooperation in ensuring long-term impact.

Alongside the Action Plan activities, SMEnergy partners continued their efforts to capitalise on the project's achievements and ensure the sustainability of its results. This included the preparation and submission of new project proposals that build on the knowledge, tools, and experience developed through SMEnergy, with the aim of expanding and replicating successful approaches in the future.

To further strengthen the project's legacy, a dedicated campaign was launched to recruit SMEs for the 2026 pilot activities. These pilots will provide participating businesses with the opportunity to test sustainable energy solutions in practice, helping to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and support the green transition across the region.

The strong engagement shown during the stakeholder meeting highlights the growing commitment of public authorities, energy experts, and business organisations to supporting SMEs on their journey towards a more sustainable and energy-resilient future.
