SpongeCity at the 4th European GREEN Conference

The European GREEN Conference, organized by the International Association of Environmental Scientists and Professionals (IAESP) and the Faculty of Food Technology Osijek at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, brings together experts from across Europe with the aim of promoting a multidisciplinary approach to environmental protection.

The conference provides a platform for knowledge exchange and the presentation of sustainability-related solutions, while its thematic sessions cover a wide range of “green” topics – from climate change, water supply, and water management to biotechnology, medicine, and food production.

As the conference was attended by a large number of experts from diverse fields, it provided an excellent opportunity to present the SpongeCity project of Koprivničke vode. During the presentation, a constructive discussion developed around the concept of stormwater retention and infiltration as a response to climate extremes. The strong interest shown by participants was further confirmed through numerous discussions held outside the official conference programme.

Such meetings and exchanges of experience among professionals from different backgrounds are extremely valuable, as they create opportunities for future cooperation on green and digital transition projects areas that form the foundation of European development policy.

For Koprivničke vode, presenting the SpongeCity concept at such a high level international event confirms the importance of the project and its relevance in addressing contemporary climate challenges.
