World Water Day- Rain garden visit in Koprivnica

Koprivnica Waters marked World Water Day on Friday, March 20, 2026, with an educational cycling tour that brought together students, pupils, and experts interested in environmental protection and sustainable water management.

Students from the University North, majoring in Environmental Protection, Recycling and Packaging, participated in the activity under guidance, along with seventh-grade pupils from Braća Radić Primary School. The participants visited an experimental rain garden, part of the Sponge City project, which demonstrates how rainwater can be intelligently retained and used in urban areas. Rain gardens help reduce flooding, improve water absorption into the soil, and contribute to the preservation of water resources.

At the end of the tour, all participants received small gifts as a token of appreciation for their participation and interest in water conservation.

This educational cycling activity showed that a lot can be achieved through practical examples and shared learning in order to better understand the importance of water and its protection. Activities like this encourage young people to think about sustainability and caring for natural resources that are essential for future generations.
