Supporting Women in Difficult Situations

Women facing difficult housing situations can find temporary accommodation in a shelter for families with children. But what comes next?

Many of these women have young children and are looking for a job. Finding suitable work can be difficult. Some are interested in cleaning jobs, but some employers may prefer to hire people with disabilities for this position because of the financial and other benefits available to employers. Working hours are also an important issue. Women need jobs that allow them to take their children to school and pick them up on time.

Other barriers include financial difficulties, limited knowledge of current labour market requirements, little recent work experience, and limited education or qualifications.

As part of the SteelCityZen project, we organised a workshop to discuss these challenges and the current options available to women in this situation.

The workshop helped us better understand the barriers these women face when looking for work. It also showed the importance of individual career guidance and support in finding realistic employment opportunities.

The Career Guidance Centre of the Slezská Ostrava Municipal District, which is involved in the SteelCityZen project together with MSpakt, provides support to people who are looking for ways to improve their situation and find suitable employment.
