Romania's largest energy storage battery – Doubles the country's total electricity storage capacity

In northern Romania, in Cluj County, Nova H SRL (a member of the Nova Power & Gas group) is beginning preparations for an energy storage investment that could double the country's current capacity. The project is expected to have a capacity of ~200 MW and a storage capacity of ~405 MWh, significantly exceeding the country's current ~240.7 MW/404.9 MWh system.

The investment site is located within the municipality of Florești, on approximately 4.4 hectares of privately owned land. The system will be connected via a 110/33 kV substation and will also include the storage, transmission, and balancing services of electricity generated by several solar parks.

Energy storage facilities will be key to ensuring that the growing amount of electricity generated from renewable sources can be integrated into the grid in a stable manner. The Nova H project is in line with this objective, as it contributes to the flexibility and balancing of the system and to the stability of the grid.
