Second steering committee meeting - 2024.10.15-16 Fuchstal, Germany

The second Steering Committee Meeting (SCOM) of the StoreMore project took place from 14-17 October 2024 in Fuchstal, Germany. During the four-day event, international partners of the project met face-to-face to review the progress made so far and to define the professional steps for the next period.

The programme included both professional and practical elements, the first day was about arrival and getting acquainted, while the second day was a detailed presentation of the main activities of the project:

  • a stakeholder analysis mapping the key actors in the Danube Region,

  • the energy storage situation assessment,

  • and an overview of new energy storage technologies.

The participants also agreed on which of the technologies under consideration should be included in the future project catalogue, which will collect sustainable energy storage solutions. Preparations were also made for site visits to showcase best practices.

Professional presentations were given by renowned speakers on renewable energy production, electricity grids and economic development opportunities in rural areas. The participants visited, among others, the wind farm and biogas system in Fuchstal, the famous Neuschwanstein castle, the 15.5 MW Apfeldorfhausen solar power plant and the "Cool Energy" pilot project.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation of a digital tool for modelling energy storage capacities, which technology partners can later connect to by sharing data. The aim of the project is to provide solutions for more efficient storage and use of renewable energy in the Danube region.

Key tasks in the coming months will include the selection of energy storage technologies and the conduct of field study visits - which will form the basis for the final deliverables of the project, including a comprehensive catalogue of sustainable energy storage solutions.
