Shaping the Future of Energy Storage: StoreMore Workshop in Sarajevo

On March 27, 2026, a workshop related to the StoreMore project was held in Sarajevo, focusing on policy guidelines aimed at promoting sustainable energy storage at the national and regional levels. The event was attended by government officials, energy experts, and representatives of market and civil society organizations, who jointly explored the possibilities for transitioning to low-carbon energy systems.

During the technical discussions, particular attention was given to the role of energy storage in increasing the flexibility and reliability of the energy system. Participants shared their experiences regarding current challenges, particularly regulatory gaps and factors slowing down investments, while also identifying opportunities that could help accelerate developments.

It was noted during the workshop that the current policy environment does not yet provide sufficient support for energy storage investments, so progress largely depends on private-sector initiatives. Participants emphasized the importance of creating a stable and predictable investment environment, as well as strengthening the commercial application of research results.

The event also highlighted the need for a deeper understanding of energy system capacities, infrastructure development, and the role of digitalization. The dialogue contributed to shared thinking and laid the groundwork for future cooperation, supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina's energy transition efforts.
