Study visit to the DUBT Center for Carbon-Free Technologies in Kisovec
On 25 September, the project partners visited the DUBT Center for Carbon-Free Technologies in Kisovec, where Prof. Robert Dominko from the National Institute of Chemistry presented the activities of the facility. The center operates until June 2026 with a total budget of EUR 32.5 million, funded by the Just Transition Fund.
The main objective of DUBT is to promote the development and practical application of carbon-free technologies. To achieve this, advanced battery and hydrogen technologies are tested in pilot environments, while special emphasis is placed on education and professional capacity building. The center actively builds international partnerships and plays an important role in transferring knowledge to industry stakeholders.

Participants were introduced to the center’s modern infrastructure, including the Battery Development Laboratory, where pouch and prismatic cell prototypes are manufactured and tested; the H₂/CO₂ Laboratory, focusing on hydrogen production and storage as well as carbon dioxide utilization research; and advanced microscopy facilities, including a Cryo-FIB microscope suitable for nanoscale material analysis.
The DUBT center represents a strong example of how strategic regional investment in carbon-free technologies can be implemented. Its activities are closely aligned with the objectives of the StoreMore project, clearly demonstrating the importance of knowledge transfer and collaboration in advancing sustainable energy storage solutions.
