WE.Circular Presented at Western Balkans Circular Economy Week
On May 30, 2025, the Center for Energy, Environment and Resources – CENER 21, in cooperation with the Sarajevo Regional Development Agency – SERDA, organized a promotional event titled “Practical Circular Economy” at the premises of Europe House in Sarajevo. The event was part of the Western Balkans Circular Economy Week, a regional initiative aimed at promoting circular economy principles and strengthening cooperation among key stakeholders.
The workshop gathered representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises, relevant institutions, academia, the financial sector, and international organizations, providing a platform for the exchange of experiences and ideas in the field of circular economy. The agenda featured presentations of good practices, thematic mini expo segments, and a panel discussion focused on the practical challenges and opportunities of applying circular business models in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the WE.Circular project during the segment Mini Expo Part 2: Projects Shaping the Circular Future. Amir Hujić, representing the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, introduced the project and its significance within the regional context.
The WE.Circular project addresses the specific needs of women entrepreneurs by supporting their transition to circular and digital business models. Through a series of transnational activities, including capacity building, the development of innovative business models, and alignment with smart specialization strategies, the project contributes to a more inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem across the region.
By showcasing WE.Circular at this regional event, organizers emphasized the importance of gender-inclusive approaches and collaborative solutions in driving the green transition. The initiative serves as a concrete example of how circular economy strategies can be adapted to meet the needs of underrepresented groups and foster systemic change.
Events like this underline the growing importance of circular economy initiatives in the Western Balkans and highlight the role of innovative projects such as WE.Circular in shaping a more sustainable and equitable future.
