3rd Partners meeting & Transnational workshop | May 2025
The COMMHERITOUR third Partners meeting and Transnational workshop took place from 13th to 15th May 2025 in Budapest, Hungary. Hosted by the Metropolitan University, this three-day event created a great space for training, learning, and networking among the project partners.
The first day of the meeting started with a warm welcome from the representatives of the Metropolitan University and update on the management and communication status quo delivered by the lead partner Municipality of Jászberény and the Regional Development Agency of South Bohemia, summarizing the development in the project since the Mostar meeting that took place in November 2024. After a coffee break, a representative of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) presented the vision and activities taking place under the Priority Area 3: To promote culture and tourism, people to people contacts. Before the lunch break, a representative of the National University for Science and Technology, POLITEHNICA Bucharest, joined the meeting online and presented their Interreg Danube project, DanubeCrafts DRP, a great opportunity for cooperation and synergies with COMMHERITOUR.
The afternoon of the 1st day belonged to the workshops. In parallel sessions, project partners participated in 2x2 workshops that focused on the key project topics. The first workshop focused on the involvement of the community, how to bring together different actors and local stakeholders, and how to successfully implement an action plan. The second workshop focused on how to work out a viable brand for craftsmen, service providers, and area developers. The third workshop focused on creative industries and product development, and how creative industries can collaborate with heritage institutions to develop innovative products inspired by cultural heritage. The fourth workshop focused on increasing accessibility through the potential for further touchpoints by exploring complementary product/service chains and tourist experience route designs.
The 2nd day of the partners' meeting took place in the Hungarian Heritage House. In the morning, participants joined the guided tour through the building and the temporary exhibition of Folk Design. Later, the crafts training system built-up in Hungary, and the institutional background of crafts heritage valorisation was introduced by the representatives of the Hungarian Heritage House. After lunch, project partners discussed the action planning methodology and introduction to the Romanian pilot action, then participated in two parallel workshops facilitated by Heritage House experts. Later in the afternoon, project partners gathered for a city walking tour.
On the 3rd day, participants visited the National Museum Restoration and Storage Centre, where they were introduced to the techniques of preservation of textile or wooden heritage in the local workshops and to the system of items’ photography and cataloguing. In the second part of the day, they visited the Museum of Ethnography.
