Collaborative effort to enhance culinary tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The City Development Agency East Sarajevo (RAIS) and the Tourist Organization City of East Sarajevo have joined forces to boost culinary tourism and safeguard cultural heritage in the Sarajevo-Romanija region by implementing the Culinary Trail project.

On July 30, RAIS met with the Tourist Organization to discuss the importance and benefits of the Culinary Trail project. This initiative aims to enhance slow tourism by showcasing the rich ethnic culinary heritage of the region. The Tourist Organization City of East Sarajevo, already active in supporting and organizing gastro-tourism events, has been invited to participate in all aspects of the project, particularly those related to collecting and promoting local culinary traditions.

The collaboration between RAIS and the Tourist Organization will also focus on connecting remote rural areas in the Sarajevo-Romanija region. By valorizing local cultural heritage, the Culinary Trail project aims to revalorize, reinterpret, upgrade, and connect isolated and less visible culinary products into a cohesive thematic transnational cultural heritage product. This effort will ensure that local tourist sites in these remote areas are no longer isolated but integrated into a broader network of culinary tourism.

An official agreement to formalize this collaboration will be signed soon. Both organizations are committed to working together to boost gastro-tourism development, marketing, and promotion, ensuring that the vibrant culinary traditions of the Sarajevo-Romanija region are celebrated and shared widely. The gastronomic story of this region is a never-ending journey, and this partnership marks a significant step towards its continued exploration and enjoyment.
