Culinary Trail Final Event Showcases the Flavours and Heritage of the Danube Region

Novo mesto, Slovenia, 30 May 2026 – The final event of the Culinary Trail of the Ethnic and Local Cuisine in the Danube Region project successfully brought together project partners, culinary experts, tourism stakeholders, and visitors to celebrate the region’s rich gastronomic heritage and cultural diversity.

Held at the Culinary Trail Demonstration and Training Centre in Restaurant Mundus, Novo mesto, the event offered participants a unique opportunity to experience authentic recipes, local ingredients, and contemporary culinary creations inspired by the traditions of the Danube region.

The programme highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting culinary heritage as a valuable element of cultural identity and regional development. Through networking, knowledge exchange, and gastronomic experiences, attendees explored how traditional food culture can contribute to sustainable tourism, strengthen local communities, and foster intercultural cooperation.

As a key initiative within the Interreg Danube Region Programme, the Culinary Trail project has focused on connecting partners across countries, promoting local food traditions, and creating innovative approaches to cultural tourism.
