Partners in the “Culinary Trail” project visited Prnjavor

Representatives of the City Development Agency East Sarajevo – RAIS and the Sarajevo Regional Development Agency - SERDA held a working meeting with members of the associations of national minorities in Prnjavor. The reason for the visit to Prnjavor is that many members of national minorities live in this local community, and because of that, it was given the epithet “Little Europe”. The meeting was an opportunity to present the “Culinary Trail” project. In addition, concrete cooperation was agreed with the Association of Poles and Friends “Boleslaviec” Prnjavor and the Roma Association “Roma Girl – Romani ćej” in the preparation of the Culinary Trail strategy for the protection and development of ethnic and local culinary heritage in the Danube region. This cooperation will significantly contribute to preserving and promoting the cultural and culinary heritage of different ethnic communities in the Danube region.

During the meeting, it was repeatedly emphasized that national minorities in Prnjavor live with other nationalities in an atmosphere of mutual respect and multicultural tolerance, which makes this city unique in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Whether it is a national or religious event, no opportunity is missed for socializing together. Furthermore, the Association of National Minorities of the City of Prnjavor have been organizing the National Minority Festival, called “Little Europe” since 2010. National minorities still have a very good relationship with their countries of origin and thus contribute to preserving cultural identity. At the same time the City Administration, on the other hand, encourages this process in various ways.
