From Project Results to Real-World Impact: DANOVA NEXT Partners Showcase Replication Solutions Across the Danube Region
As the DANOVA NEXT project entered its final stage, all project partners successfully organised local dissemination events during June across the Danube Region to present the project's key achievements and support the transfer of its results into practice.
The events brought together a wide range of stakeholders from the transport sector, including representatives of transport operators, airports, ports, railway and public transport companies, public authorities, regional and local governments, organisations of persons with disabilities, research institutions, and other organisations committed to improving accessible mobility.
The primary objective of the events was to introduce the DANOVA NEXT Replication Package, one of the project's main final outputs. Developed throughout the three-year project, the Replication Package provides practical guidance and tools that enable organisations to replicate and adapt DANOVA NEXT solutions within their own transport systems and operational environments.
Presenting the DANOVA NEXT Replication Package
During the local events, partners presented the comprehensive set of methodologies, tools and recommendations developed within the project, including:
Strategy for Accessible Transport in the Danube Region;
Accessibility Assessment Methodology for transport terminals;
DANOVA NEXT Toolkit;
results of pilot actions implemented by transport partners across the Danube Region;
DANOVA NEXT Web Application;
opportunities to join the DANOVA NEXT Smart Transport Network and become part of the DANOVA NEXT Web Application.
Special attention was given to the practical application of these outputs and to demonstrating how they can support transport organisations in improving accessibility for persons with disabilities.
User-Centred Innovation
One of the key messages shared during all local events was the importance of involving persons with disabilities throughout every stage of the project. Their active participation ensured that the developed solutions respond to real user needs and contribute to more independent, safe and accessible travel experiences.
Participants also had the opportunity to explore the innovative solutions tested during the project's pilot actions, covering airports, ports and urban public transport systems. Infrastructure improvements, digital services and organisational measures demonstrated how accessibility can be enhanced through practical, user-oriented innovations.
Building a Lasting Network for Accessible Transport
Beyond presenting the project's tangible results, the local events highlighted the long-term vision of DANOVA NEXT. The project is establishing the DANOVA NEXT Smart Transport Network, which will continue fostering cooperation between transport providers, public authorities, organisations of persons with disabilities and other stakeholders after the project's completion.
The Network aims to promote knowledge exchange, encourage the uptake of good practices and support the continuous development of accessible and inclusive transport services throughout the Danube Region.
By organising these local events, DANOVA NEXT partners have strengthened cooperation with national and regional stakeholders and laid the foundation for the sustainable exploitation of the project's results. Through continued collaboration and the wider adoption of the developed methodologies and tools, the project will continue contributing to more accessible, inclusive and user-centred transport systems across the Danube Region.
