From Project Results to Local Action: Kaplice Explores Social Entrepreneurship
One of the lasting impacts of the Danube4SEecosystem project can be seen in the town of Kaplice, Czech Republic, where social entrepreneurship is being explored as a practical solution to address local community needs.
Following the National Knowledge Transfer Workshop and subsequent discussions with RERA, local representatives began exploring the potential establishment of a municipal social enterprise to support social services, particularly for older people. The initiative focuses on complementary activities such as meal delivery, shopping assistance and other everyday services, enabling social workers to dedicate more time to direct care.
As municipal social enterprises are still a relatively new concept in the Czech Republic, RERA continues to support the municipality by facilitating contacts with existing social enterprises and sharing practical experience. Planned consultation visits will help identify a model that best responds to local needs and conditions.
Although still at an early stage, the Kaplice initiative demonstrates how Danube4SEecosystem has helped transform project activities into concrete local action. By strengthening cooperation between local public authorities, social economy actors and support organisations, the project has created a foundation for sustainable partnerships that can continue beyond its lifetime.
