MASTERING THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY BUSINESS MODELS USING DECIDE E-LEARNING MATERIALS

As part of its broader mission to equip stakeholders in the Danube Region with actionable tools for circular transformation, the DECIDE project has finalised one of its central training resources: the e-Learning materials for different potential users, as a learning resource for the transition towards circular economy practices in a comprehensive and integrated set of tools and methods.

Developed under the leadership of Sofia University’s Science and Research Department (SU-NIS), the course offers structured, practice-oriented learning, tailored to companies, business support organisations, local authorities, and academic institutions aiming to transition towards the circular economy.

This modular online course addresses the knowledge gaps identified through a project-wide Training Needs Analysis (TNA). It supports real-world application of circular economy principles in key sectors such as food, textiles, batteries, packaging, and smart cities.

Structured into three main parts, the e-learning covers circular economy principles, application of the DECIDE Toolbox (including tools such as ADOxx, BPMN, e3Value and Vensim), and real-world case studies developed through the project’s TANDEM methodology. The course includes short, focused lessons, step-by-step tool tutorials, interactive exercises, and self-assessment components—all delivered via the Moodle learning platform.

Crucially, the materials have been validated through internal testing with project partners and external piloting with students during a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) in T“rgu Mureș. The Feedback collected helped refine the content to ensure it is accessible to both technical and non-technical users.

The e-learning course will soon be integrated into the DECIDE Service Catalogue, making it openly available for broader uptake beyond the consortium. Through its practice-oriented digital format, this online training makes a strong contribution to the goals of the DECIDE project: It helps users understand and apply circular business models in real-world context and supports the green and digital transition of SMEs across the Danube Region.
