TIMIȘ COUNTY, Romania – Cycling enthusiasts, tourists and local residents now have access to a new digital platform designed to showcase the region's cycling routes, cultural heritage and tourism opportunities. The VeloTimiș platform, available at www.velotimis.ro/en, has been launched by the Timiș County Council as part of a broader effort to promote sustainable mobility and regional tourism.

The platform was developed within the project “Inclusive Border Cycling - Social Inclusion by Valorising Heritage Along Existing Cycling Routes in Remote Border Areas,” funded through the Danube Programme 2021-2027.

During the implementation of the project, partners collected a wealth of information about local communities, historical landmarks, tourism attractions, local producers and the unique characteristics of the route along EuroVelo 13, as well as the surrounding areas of Timiș County. This material has now been made publicly available through the VeloTimiș platform, creating a comprehensive resource for anyone interested in exploring the region by bicycle.

According to project representatives, the platform aims to highlight the tourism potential of Timiș County while promoting its natural and cultural heritage. Users can access practical information tailored to cyclists of all experience levels, from daily commuters and recreational riders to amateur and professional athletes.

“Whether you commute by bike, train for competitions or simply enjoy cycling for leisure, VeloTimiș is the ideal starting point for discovering Timiș County,” the project team said.

Visitors to the platform can explore a diverse range of cycling routes, quieter roads suitable for bike travel, and destinations rich in history and tradition. The website also features information about local products, natural attractions and lesser-known stories that reflect the identity and character of the region.

By bringing together tourism, heritage and sustainable mobility, VeloTimiș seeks to encourage both residents and visitors to experience Timiș County from a different perspective while supporting local communities along the route.
