First MonStur peer review visit focused on sonar-based surveys

Sharing expertise, practical experience and good practices across countries and institutions is an important part of strengthening sturgeon monitoring in the Danube River Basin.

As part of this approach, MonStur in the Danube organised its first peer review visit, bringing experts from WWF Bulgaria and BOKU University to Romania. Hosted by the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development, the visit focused on sonar-based surveys and provided partners with the opportunity to observe monitoring methods directly in the field.

Alongside the field activities, partners discussed methodologies and practical experiences, strengthening their knowledge and skills and learning from each other's expertise.

This was the first in a series of planned peer review visits within MonStur, which will cover different monitoring approaches and involve other project partners. Together, these exchanges contribute to building monitoring capacities and strengthening cooperation across the Danube River Basin.
