MonStur in the Danube presented at the 46th IAD Conference

From 10 to 13 August 2026, representatives of our project partner University of Belgrade - Institute for Multidisciplinary Research (IMSI) participated in the 46th Conference of the International Association for Danube Research (IAD), held in Baja, Hungary.

The conference brought together researchers and experts from across the Danube Region to exchange knowledge and discuss the socio-ecological future of the river, with a focus on connecting riverine and terrestrial systems for a sustainable Danube.

As part of a session dedicated to European projects supporting nature restoration in the Danube River Basin - Black Sea Region, our colleagues presented MonStur in the Danube, its objectives and its contribution to developing a coordinated, basin-wide approach to sturgeon monitoring.

Participation in the conference provided an opportunity to share the project's work with the wider scientific community, exchange knowledge with other initiatives and strengthen connections with researchers and organisations working across the Danube River Basin.

This year's conference also marked the 70th anniversary of IAD, the longest-standing international scientific network dedicated to research and protection of the Danube.
