Strengthening cooperation across the Danube

While a major focus of MonStur in the Danube so far has been the development of the Joint Monitoring System, the project is also building connections beyond its consortium.

Links with emerging initiatives that include sturgeon monitoring, such as SturNet, BLISS and DinoPath, are creating opportunities for their data to eventually contribute to the MonStur database. This cooperation can also help create synergies between different initiatives and avoid duplication of monitoring efforts across the Danube River Basin.

At the same time, MonStur has been presented and discussed within key regional networks and events, strengthening dialogue with institutions, researchers and conservation organisations working across the basin.

By connecting projects, experts and existing monitoring efforts, MonStur aims to support a more coordinated, long-term approach to sturgeon monitoring across the Danube.
