Results of the "Be Ready" Project Presented: Podgorica Leader in Green Policies, Montenegrin Municipalities Interested in Adopting the Successful Model

Podgorica, June 30, 2026 – The Capital City of Podgorica presented today in the Press Hall of the Assembly of the Capital City the key results of the "Be Ready" project (Interreg Danube Region), which was successfully implemented with the aim of strengthening urban resilience to climate change.

This multiplier event gathered numerous partners, collaborators, and institutional representatives, who had the opportunity to learn about the achieved goals and sustainable ecological solutions developed throughout the project. Special focus was placed on the local Action Plan for mitigating the effects of the urban heat island phenomenon, through which Podgorica confirmed its role as a regional leader in implementing green policies and creating a healthier living environment.

The key proof of the success and quality of the implemented activities is the immense interest from other Montenegrin local self-governments to apply the best practices and methodology of the "Be Ready" project in their own territories. In this context, the Old Royal Capital Cetinje stands out in particular, having already recognized the importance of this model and expressed a clear intention to implement the developed solutions, thereby giving the project a broader, national significance.

During the presentation, it was emphasized that the achieved results represent only a baseline for future sustainable initiatives, and that the Capital City will provide full support to all municipalities wishing to adopt and adapt these models at the local level.
