The "Be Ready" Project Multiplier Event in Chișinău: Toward Climate Adaptation and Combating Urban Heat Islands

The Be Ready project multiplier event was held in Chișinău on June 29, 2026 together with the event of the CITYWALK2.0 project funded under the same programme.

It brought together local authority representatives, experts, civil society organizations, and citizens to exchange knowledge and explore innovative solutions aimed at addressing the challenges posed by urban heat islands (UHI) and strengthening climate change adaptation efforts.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to present key results, tools, and pilot actions developed to the general public, extending the project's impact beyond the partner consortium. Participants learned more about the practical approaches developed within "Be Ready," including the methodology for UHI risk and vulnerability assessment, digital tools such as the Climate Sandbox for technological and societal readiness self-assessment, online training programs, and pilot interventions based on green, white, and blue urban "acupuncture". Special emphasis was placed on the locally implemented pilot action, which involved the setting up of a pavilion in the courtyard of Kindergarten No. 100 in Chișinău.

By sharing experiences and encouraging the replication of successful solutions, the event in Chișinău contributed to expanding the impact of the "Be Ready" project at both local and regional levels. This initiative underscored once again the vital importance of close collaboration and joint actions in creating a cooler, greener, and more resilient urban environment for all its citizens.
