Understanding and Communicating Urban Heat Island Risks
As pasrt of the Be Ready project, a series of informational resources on Urban Heat Islands (UHI) has been developed to inform the general public and key target groups - uncluding urban planners, policymakers, climate experts, and sectoral stakeholders.
Following the conducted UHI vulnerabity and risk assessment each of our city partners — Sofia, Chișinău, Galati, Niš, Zenica, Podgorica, Ratiboř, Kranj, Varaždin, and Hévíz — developed informational materials to communicate the results of their assessments. The infographics visually highlight high-risk zones within each city and illustrate the health impacts of UHI, especially on at-risk populations such as the elderly, children, and individuals with disabilities.
By presenting research findings and health risks along with practical advice on how to stay safe during extreme heat, the materials aim to enhance awareness and encourage proactive adaptation strategies.
All infographics and informational materials are available in both English and the respective languages of each city partner. They can be accessed in the Library section.
