Stakeholders involvement and heritage valorisation workshops

Stakeholder involvement and heritage valorisation workshops in COMMHERITOUR

One of the main ambitions of Commheriour is the engagement of local communities and stakeholders concerned with heritage crafts valorisation (ranging from professional craftsmen to the amateurs, from NGOs, agencies, entrepreneurs to local governments/policy makers as well as average citizens). Their involvement in the thematic activities ensures the sustainability of the future pilot projects and the realization of the crafts heritage valorisation objectives to be determined in period 3.

To mobilize the relevant community members and stakeholders in the remote areas of the Danube Region partners first mapped local actors, using different methods of which the snowball method was the most widespread. As a next step partners identified those actors who were ready to participate in the joint thinking and actions within the project. This series of identical steps resulted in district size and composition of stakeholder groups by partner micro-regions.

Commheritour thematic activities take place in remote micro-regions, where the frequency of activities based on joint interests and activities are moderate. The project invited stakeholders in each of the eight DR micro-regions first to support the analytical activities of experts working on the Heritage Valorisation Reports (HVRs). In Commheritour partners produce two valorisation reports each linked to a specific objective (SO1 - ways of crafts heritage preservation and SO2 - valorisation of crafts in economy and tourism).

In an attempt to contribute to the HVRs stakeholders came together twice per SO in each partner region: the first meeting served the gathering of valuable information about different aspects of crafts valorisation while the second was devoted to the validation of the expert conclusions. In some of the eight Commheritour micro-regions stakeholder meetings were organized jointly (SO1 and SO2 together) to maximize the intensity of involvement.

Conclusions drawn at the meetings (e.g. gaps as well as good practices identified) are supposed to be valuable inputs to the HVRs and considered to be core contributions to the formulation of objectives and proposed actions in the strategy and action planning phase (period 3). Danube Region strategy and action planning also largely reply on these partner level outcomes.
