Green-Tex Representative Participated in the TEX-DAN Bulgarian Event on Circular Economy in the Textile and Fashion Sector
On 21 April 2026, Green-Tex project partner PP5 EUROTEX Ltd. participated in a national event organised by RAPIV, partner in the sister project TEX-DAN, titled: “Circular Economy in the Textile and Fashion Sector: Solutions, Partnerships and Practical Steps for Business.”
The event gathered representatives from business, education, industry organisations and sustainability experts to discuss practical approaches for accelerating the circular transition in the textile and fashion sector.
EUROTEX, operating under the TexCycle brand, was represented by Ms. Sirma Zheleva, Head of Sustainability Unit and Green-Tex Project Coordinator for Bulgaria. She presented Green-Tex project activities and results, along with TexCycle’s experience in textile collection, sorting, recycling and circular product development.
During the session “GREEN-TEX: Promoting Circular Transformation”, she showcased pilot activities and explained how circular business models can be applied across the textile value chain- from collection and recycling to upcycling and new product development.
She also took part in the panel discussion “How Circular Principles Can Work for Businesses in the Textile and Fashion Sector”, where key topics included business value of circularity, common transition challenges, cooperation between industry and education, and first steps for SMEs.
Ms. Zheleva emphasized that circular transformation should be seen not only as a regulatory requirement, but as an opportunity for innovation, competitiveness and long-term resilience, highlighting the importance of practical, measurable actions and strong value chain partnerships.
The event highlighted strong synergies between the GREEN-TEX and TEX-DAN projects under the Interreg Danube Region Programme and underlined the importance of cross-project cooperation in supporting a more sustainable textile sector.
Through this engagement, EUROTEX and TexCycle continue to contribute to knowledge sharing, stakeholder cooperation and promotion of circular solutions at national and regional level.
