Online Lecture on Circular Textiles and Extended Producer Responsibility Successfully Held
Towards Circular Textiles- The Role of Extended Producer Responsibilities (EPR) and Recycling Systems
On 24 June 2026, the Green-Tex project successfully organized the online lecture “Towards Circular Textiles- The Role of Extended Producer Responsibilities (EPR) and Recycling Systems”, bringing together project partners and stakeholders interested in sustainable textile management and circular economy solutions.
The lecture was organized by the Green-Tex project partner, the University of Zagreb Faculty of Textile Technology, and delivered by Prof. Aleksandra Anić Vučinić from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering.
During the lecture, participants gained valuable insights into the principles of the circular economy, the role of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes in the textile sector, and the importance of establishing efficient textile collection, reuse, and recycling systems. Particular attention was given to current challenges and opportunities related to the implementation of EPR mechanisms as a key driver for reducing textile waste and promoting sustainable resource management.
The event was attended by Green-Tex project partners, as well as representatives of the TEX-DAN and DECIDE projects, creating an opportunity for knowledge exchange, networking, and discussion on common challenges and solutions in the field of circular textiles.
The lecture contributed to strengthening the capacities of project partners and stakeholders, while supporting the broader objective of fostering a more sustainable and circular textile sector across the Danube Region and beyond.
