The Power of Collective Action: Green-Tex Participated in the Celebration of Earth Day

Earth Day was once again marked on April 22 in Sarajevo through the event “The Power of Collective Action”, which brought together numerous stakeholders with the aim of promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness about the importance of responsible waste management. The event was organized by KJKP “RAD” d.o.o. Sarajevo, a partner of LP1 SERDA within Pilot Activity 1 of the EU INTERREG Green-Tex project.

As part of the event, the Green-Tex project was actively presented, further highlighting the importance of applying circular solutions, particularly in the field of textile waste management. Innovative approaches were promoted that view textile waste as a resource, with the goal of reducing environmental impact and fostering sustainable business models.

A special contribution to the event was made by secondary school students and users of healthy ageing centres, who demonstrated creative and practical ways of reusing materials through their work. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy an exhibition of items made from various types of waste – plastic, construction materials, and textiles.

Particularly noteworthy were the works made from textile waste created by students of the Secondary School for Textile, Leather and Design from Sarajevo, showcasing how innovative approaches and knowledge can transform waste into products of new added value.

The event once again confirmed the importance of joint action by public institutions, the education system, and the local community in promoting sustainable development, with the support of EU-funded projects. At the same time, it emphasized the importance of adopting circular habits among younger generations, as well as preserving and revitalizing traditional sustainable practices through the active participation of older citizens.

The event “The Power of Collective Action” delivered a clear message – sustainability is not an individual effort, but the result of collective action, knowledge, and intergenerational cooperation.
