Synergy in Action: Green-Tex and DECIDE Projects Connect Stakeholders in Tavankut

On 28 April 2026, a joint synergy event of the projects Green-Tex Enhancing Danube Green Textile and Garment Production and Consumption and DECIDEDigital Services for Circular Economy: a Toolbox for Regional Developers & SMEs was held in Tavankut ( Serbia) in a hybrid format (on-site and online).

The event brought together project partners, experts, farmers, and other relevant stakeholders with the aim of strengthening cooperation between initiatives that promote the circular economy, sustainable production, and innovative approaches to local development.

In the introductory part of the event, both projects were presented, with a special focus on improving green textile value chains and developing digital tools to support circular business models for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The central part of the event was dedicated to Green-Tex Pilot Activity 2 Testing Wider Application of Natural Fibres in Innovative Textile, where GREEN-TEX partners from Serbia and Croatia presented implemented activities aimed at the broader application of natural fibres, particularly local wool, in innovative textile solutions. Special attention was given to experiences related to sustainability, market potential, and the economic value of reusing local wool.

As part of the programme, a mutual peer-review between project partners was also conducted, during which participants exchanged experiences, analysed implementation approaches, and provided constructive feedback and recommendations for further improvement. This process further contributed to strengthening the quality of results and improving the understanding of how project solutions are applied in different local contexts.

Through a group discussion, participants exchanged views on the possibilities of applying the acquired knowledge in other environments, the current state of the local wool and hemp markets, as well as the barriers that slow down the development of these sectors.

It was concluded that local resources such as wool and hemp have significant potential for the development of sustainable and innovative products, but that their full development requires stronger links between agriculture, research, digital tools, and regional cooperation.

The event once again confirmed the importance of synergy between projects, institutions, and local stakeholders in creating more sustainable economic models and strengthening the green transition of the Danube region.
