SERDA organized event "Textile Waste – Challenges and Solutions"
The Sarajevo Regional Development Agency SERDA, as the lead partner of the Green-Tex – Enhancing Danube Green Production and Consumption of Textiles and Clothing project, organized an event titled “Textile Waste – Challenges and Solutions” on 14 November 2025 at SERDA’s premises.
The event brought together representatives of local authorities, public utility companies, NGOs, and local businesses. Through constructive discussions, participants exchanged views on the current state of textile-waste management in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Special emphasis was placed on the growing need for more efficient systems of textile collection, recycling, and reuse, as well as on the importance of raising public awareness about sustainable practices.
During the event, several examples of circular solutions and business models were presented—initiatives that help reduce textile waste while strengthening economic sustainability through innovation, local cooperation, and responsible consumption. Participants also explored the opportunities that come with transitioning to a circular and regenerative economy, which is a key objective of the Green-Tex project. Their active engagement, along with the conclusions and initiatives that emerged from the discussions, will contribute significantly to the future development of sustainable solutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s textile sector.
The Green-Tex project is implemented under the INTERREG Danube Region Programme. Its impact lies in strengthening transnational cooperation and improving the resilience and competitiveness of the textile sector across partner countries in the Danube Region.
