Students from Varna Gain Insight into Sustainable Textile Management at Eurotex Sorting Center
On October 17th, students from the Professional High School of Textile and Fashion Design and university students from Varna, Bulgaria, visited the Eurotex sorting center, a project partner in the Green-Tex project. This educational visit provided a unique, hands-on experience in the field of sustainable textile management, aligning with Green-Tex's mission to promote a circular textile economy.
During their time at the center, students were introduced to the Green-Tex project's objectives, partners, and initiatives. They observed each step in the garment and footwear sorting process, aimed at extending product lifecycles and reducing textile waste. Through interactive discussions, the young visitors engaged in topics like eco-design, responsible production, and sustainable resource management, gaining insights into the broader impact of these practices on the environment.
Though sustainable textile resource management is often underrepresented in educational curricula, such initiatives provide students with invaluable real-world exposure. Eurotex, through its TexCycle brand, offers diverse solutions for textile reuse and recycling, and its EcoAcademy actively works to raise awareness of the environmental challenges associated with textile waste and fast fashion. By promoting more responsible consumption habits within the community, Eurotex is shaping the future of textile sustainability, inspiring students to think critically about their role in the shift towards a greener economy.
