Between Two Lakes – A Journey Through Mountains and Legends

The route connects Bukumirsko and Rikavačko Lakes, guiding visitors through spectacular mountain landscapes, seasonal shepherd settlements (katuns), viewpoints, and legends that have preserved the identity of this region for centuries.

As part of the project, an authentic traditional guvno (circular stone threshing floor) was built, along with a wooden benches and informational boards, creating a space for gatherings, educational activities, and cultural events.

During the visit, participants toured key points of the route, including Bukumirsko Lake, Bukumirski Viewpoint, the Laković Katun on Širokar, and Drekalov Viewpoint. Through interpretative guiding, stories were shared about the Bukumiri people, legends of the lake dragon, the katun way of life, and the historical heritage of this mountainous area.

The thematic route is 10.8 kilometers long and is designed as a sustainable tourism product that connects the natural and intangible cultural heritage of the Komovi Nature Park and the Kuči Mountains.

We are especially pleased that this route will become part of the tourism offer of the “Komovi” Nature Park and the Podgorica Tourist Organization, and through the Mystic Danube app it will also be accessible to a wider international audience.
