"The Legend of Pozoj" brings the mythical stories of Međimurje to life for the youngest

Within the Mystical Danube project, one of the missions is to safeguard the ancient myths and unique legends as symbols of our rich intangible cultural heritage.

These tales, passed down through generations via the raw power of storytelling, bring the legends alive. For Međimurje County, the legend of the dragon Pozoj has a great value and serves an an inspiration for the tourism development.

This timeless story has been shared with children through the theatre performance „Legend of Pozoj“ to keep it echoing through time and shield it from oblivion.

The performance enchanted over 150 pupils in lower grades at primary schools in Čakovec, Donja Dubrava, Donji Vidovac, and Štrigova—pilot areas for the project. Through the captivating and educational interpretation of Theatre 002, kids dove into the thrilling world of Pozoj's legend.

This show forms a key activity in the Action Plan for Sustainable Tourism Development in Međimurje County. By weaving myths and legends into the fabric of tourism, it elevates and preserves our vibrant intangible heritage.
