Workshop on Storytelling and Cultural Heritage in Piskavica

The “Dom Kulture” (Community Center) in the village of Piskavica recently hosted the educational workshop “Storytelling and Natural and Intangible Cultural Heritage”, part of the Mystical Danube project. The workshop was based on the transnational Strategy for the Valorization of Mapped Natural and Intangible Cultural Heritage as a Resource for Sustainable Tourism Development and was implemented as a pilot initiative.

Participants included representatives from local city/municipal tourism organizations, as well as community members from Piskavica involved in tourism. Through a combination of theoretical and practical sessions, attendees developed storytelling skills aimed at creating authentic and engaging tourist experiences. The workshop demonstrated how narrative techniques can promote and preserve natural and intangible cultural heritage, differentiate local tourist offerings, add value, enhance sustainability, and strengthen local identity.

By the end of the training, participants gained a deeper understanding of how storytelling can leave a lasting impression on visitors while supporting cultural preservation and sustainable tourism development.

The Mystical Danube project is implemented within the Transnational Cooperation Program of the Danube Region 2021–2027 and is co-financed by the European Union.
