Presentation of project „SteelCityZen“ on external event - Fair „ZEPS 2025“

SteelCityZen is a transnational cooperation project funded by the Danube Region Programme, which brings together 11 partners from 9 countries, to tackle a common challenge across the Danube Region: the vulnerability of (mono)industrial cities facing economic transformation. These cities, which often rely on a single resource-intensive industry, are particularly exposed to employment risks linked to structural changes, such as the green and digital transitions.

The project aims to empower these local governments to diversify their local labour markets and support inclusive, sustainable development. This will be achieved through strengthened stakeholder cooperation, improved coordination between local governments and employment actors, and the development of innovative tools for local skills assessment and matching.

The trade fair "ZEPS 2025" was held in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina from 10th to 13th of September 2025. The Fair was attended by around 500 exhibitors from 15 countries, with over 2000 brands. The 22,000.00m2 fairground was visited by around 30,000 visitors. The Chamber of Commerce of Zenica-Doboj Canton, as one of the participants and exhibitors at the "ZEPS 2025" Fair, on this occasion presented the transnational project SteelCityZen to the general public.

On 13th of September 2025, the Chamber of Commerce of Zenica-Doboj Canton, project partner 7 within the SteelCityZen project, presented the most important information about this project to all interested visitors to the Fair, as well as the official website of the project. Visitors could express their interest in the planned activities within the framework of this project, leaving their contact details. In this way, in the coming period they will be regularly informed about the implementation of the SteelCityZen project. During the 4 days of the Fair, visitors could download the project posters and leaflets. The interest of the general public was significant, and it is especially important to highlight the interest of representatives of regional and local authorities, as well as other chambers of commerce, in the dissemination of the SteelCityZen project in their regions.

The implementation of the project lasts 36 months, in the period 01/04/2025 - 31/03/2028. The lead partner in the "SteelCityZen" project is the Municipality of Dunaújváros from the Republic of Hungary, and the Chamber of Commerce of the Zenica-Doboj Canton as a project partner from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
