Career Festival organized by the University of Ostrava

Slezská Ostrava, together with its technical partner MS PAKT, participated in the Career Festival organized by the University of Ostrava, which took place on April 22, 2026, as part of the ZaKariérou initiative. This festival offered students a unique opportunity to meet with representatives of organizations, projects, and institutions that actively support their professional development and entry into the job market. The event attracted a wide range of participants and created a space for sharing experiences, concerns, and specific opportunities.

One of the projects presented was SteelCityZen, which focuses on the transformation of the labor market. Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about its activities and engage in a discussion about current trends in the labor market.

Throughout the day, we served dozens of visitors, including students and stakeholders, several of whom expressed interest in further collaboration. These meetings provided valuable insights and helped us better understand the needs of the younger generation.

Conversations with students revealed that one of their greatest concerns is uncertainty about finding employment in their field of study, particularly in more specialized disciplines. It was frequently mentioned that even after completing their studies, they consider changing their career path, which highlights the need for greater flexibility and support in finding their own professional direction.

The idea of shared part-time positions also proved inspiring, such as a model where two people share a single job (each working two days a week). This approach can offer greater flexibility not only to students but also to other target groups in the labor market.

The topic of support for mothers who want to start a business also received significant attention in the discussions. It can be particularly difficult for them to balance family life with professional ambitions, which is why it is important to create conditions and programs that make this step easier for them.

The University of Ostrava Career Festival thus confirmed the importance of such events in building bridges between education and practice. The SteelCityZen project garnered interest here and opened the door to new collaborations and further development within the region.
