Heritage Interpretation – A Key to Authentic Experiences
As part of the SReST project, DUBoak - Maritime Heritage Interpretation Center organized a certified Heritage Interpretation Course. The training provided participants with the skills to effectively communicate the value of local food heritage and agrobiodiversity, enhancing the tourism experience.
The heritage – from natural beauty, gastronomy to dialect – depends, in addition to those who inherit these traditions, to a large extent on those who pass on this knowledge to visitors.
Under the guidance of experienced mentors Manuela Hrvatin and Vida Ungar from the Interpret Europe – European Organization for Heritage Interpretation, participants from all over Kvarner and Malinska-Dubašnica explored innovative ways to engage visitors with deeper meanings of cultural and natural heritage. The course focused on developing interpretative tours that highlight local food traditions, ensuring that gastronomic heritage is not only preserved but also shared in a meaningful and immersive way.
By educating and capacity-building, SReST partners are working to equip local communities with the knowledge and tools needed to create sustainable, socially responsible tourism experiences across the Danube region. The newly developed heritage interpretation concepts will be put into practice in the future, offering visitors a richer and more authentic connection to the regions they explore.
