OpenCall for Smart City agile pilot projects

The consortium of the international project PilotInnCities is launching an open call, offering participants the opportunity to receive up to €20,000 (including VAT) in the form of a contract for the implementation of a pilot project. The competition runs simultaneously in six countries of the Danube region: Czechia, Hungary, Germany, Romania, Slovakia, and Serbia. In this first wave, a total of 22 to 44 pilots will be implemented, with some €400,000 distributed among them.

The project introduces the renowned Finnish method of agile piloting to the region. The open call is primarily dedicated to startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). At its conclusion, 4 to 8 winners will be selected in each country, with the exception of 2 to 4 winners in Serbia.. A professional jury will make the final selection in April and May 2025, evaluating applications based on five criteria:

  1. Innovation

  2. Impact

  3. Feasibility

  4. Scalability

  5. Budget

The implementation of the selected projects in urban living labs across Danubian cities and municipalities will begin in June 2025 and will last for three to six months.
