Germany Launches Super Pilots
🔦 The German lighthouse is shining bright!
Alongside 73 nationwide #SmartCity lighthouse projects supported by the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building, Landkreis Wunsiedel i. Fichtelgebirge (#freiraumfichtelgebirge) has become a testing ground for five agile pilots bringing innovation into real-life settings. Meet them here:
♻️ Incoretex GmbH is making waste management smarter in Kirchenlamitz. Small sensors monitor how full bins are and send data to the cloud. A simple dashboard helps the city optimize collections, avoid overflows, and reduce costs.
🚴♂️ Ideenkultivierung GmbH enables local volunteers in Kirchenlamitz to crowdsource cycling data via a smartphone app. Anonymous inputs on road conditions and traffic feed into an open platform—providing citizens and the town with clear insights for improving safety and cycling infrastructure.
📱 Hypertegrity AG pilots a digital public space booking system in Marktleuthen. Built on the open Urban Data Space Platform and enhanced with building-monitoring sensors (air quality, noise, lighting), it delivers real-time dashboards and apps for both the municipality and its citizens.
🥾 Venus Ai enriches hiking trails in Bad Alexandersbad with AR-powered QR codes. Visitors can navigate routes, refreshment stops, or points of interest, while the link to the region’s open data platform ensures instant updates and timely warnings.
🚍 wikimove (Techstars ’22) improves the FichtelBaxi on-demand bus service. Passengers gain real-time visibility on where their booked ride is and when it arrives. Using a driver’s smartphone or IoT module, the system streams vehicle data into open platforms—creating a scalable rural mobility model with tracking, booking, payment, and barrier-free navigation.
