THE DECIDE PROJECT EARNS FLAGSHIP STATUS
The Digital Services in the Circular Economy (DECIDE) project was awarded a certificate as a "Flagship Project" of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), during the EUSDR conference âThe Danube Region at the Turn of Times”, which took place in Ulm, Germany, in July 2024.
State Secretary Dr. Patrick Rapp (Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour, and Tourism of Baden-Württemberg), together with the Croatian State Secretary Andreja Metelko-Zgombić, presented the certificate to Dr. Claus Hoffmann, Managing Director of ZD.BB GmbH, the organization responsible for leading the DECIDE partnership. On this occasion, Dr. Claus Hoffmann stated:
The Flagship status underlines the strategic importance of the DECIDE project and recognises its significant contribution to the sustainable economic development of the Danube Region.
The EUSDR aims to strengthen cooperation between the countries and regions along the Danube and to promote sustainable economic and social development. The Danube Region Strategy Area 8 aims to support the competitiveness of enterprises in the Danube Region.Danube Strategy Flagships are projects or processes that contribute to the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), have a clear macro-regional dimension and a multi-level governance approach. They are of high importance for the Danube Region’s economic, social and territorial cohesion and for improving the quality of life in the Danube Region. The DECIDE project, a flagship project of the the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme aims to promote digital services that support the circular economy through innovative business models, products, processes, and services. The project focuses on enhancing cooperation and sharing best practices among stakeholders in the Danube region.During the conference, members of the P8 Working Group Digital Danube held a meeting, coordinated by Dr. Hoffman. The Digital Danube Working Group meeting in Ulm provided an opportunity for members to discuss the status of joint activities, the current challenges of digitalisation in the Danube region, and future activities. Current support offers for the development of digital business models in the Danube region were discussed, with an increasing focus on circular economy business models. The importance of this event has already been emphasised, but it is also important to mention the additional benefits that participation in this and similar events brings to the DECIDE project partnership, such as networking, strengthening cooperation, and gathering high quality ideas and approaches that can be applied to the project.
